The Joint Rockers formed in 1981 to play the music we grew to love – classic Blues, R&B, Soul and early Roots Rock. More than 40 years later, the band is still going strong and booking new club dates for the New Year! Throughout the years we have performed at every Columbus venue that would even present Blues, including the Short North Tavern, Union Station, the Thirsty Ear, Brewer’s Alley, Victory’s, Plank’s, High Beck, Stache’s and many others. Stache and Little Brothers allowed us to be the opening act for several national acts including Charlie Musselwhite, Duke Robillard, Gatemouth Brown, Lonnie Mack and others. We have performed for Columbus Music in the Air programs at several locations, including the Riverfront Amphitheater where we opened for Levon Helm (from the Band), Duke Robillard and Buckwheat Zydeco. In the early 90’s we brought Columbus Blues legend Christine Kittrell out of retirement for a few club dates, including at The Lincoln Theatre opening for the great Charles Brown. The Joint Rockers have performed at Comfest, Olde Towne East, Galena Summerfest and Boneyfiddle Fest (Portsmouth) in recent years. During the pandemic, the band continued to perform in clubs and festivals – most recently the St. Michael Catholic Church annual festival (2021) and the Westerville Music and Arts Festival (2022). You can catch us on a regular basis at the India Oak Grill, The Blarney Stone Tavern, J&D’s and at Delaware’s Roop Brothers Bar. Throughout the years some of the faces have changed, but three original rhythm section members – Chuck “Albino Red” Moore (sax), Sam Williams (bass) and Dave West (drums) – remain with the addition of guitarists John “Johnny Mack” McNamee and Rick Collura, both two impressive credentials on their own.
