Rising Stars Blues and Jazz Contest

In Gahanna’s Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival version of American Idol, aspiring musicians have the opportunity to compete for the title of “Best Rising Star” of the festival.  Contest finalists will perform before a panel of judges on the Creekside Community Stage on Saturday, June 16, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and the winning musician/group will perform a set on the Family Stage on Saturday evening at 7 p.m.

Musicians must submit a sample of their work to the contest committee prior to the festival.  Finalists will be chosen following a review of their samples.  In addition to the opportunity to perform a set on the Musical Discovery Stage, the winner also will receive a $200 scholarship award, and the runner-up musician/group will receive a $100 award.  Students in middle school and up through age 20 are eligible to participate and may apply by emailing a video or audio clip, no more than five minutes in length, no later than May 29, to: risingstarscreekside@gmail.com.

Jog your JAZZ Off!

Join us for the 5th Annual Jog your JAZZ Off! 5K Run and Walk during the Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival in Gahanna! 

The 5K will begin at 10 a.m. at the paddleboat marina (behind Mezzo Italian Kitchen & Wine) and will return participants to the heart of the Festival, where they will arrive just as the Festival kicks off for another day of great music and food.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in Adult (18 and over) Men and Women categories, and in Young Adult (under 18) Boys and Girls categories.

Registration fee for the 5K is $25, prior to June 11, and includes a t-shirt, post race refreshments and two "good any day" tickets to the CBJF.  From June 12 through race day, registration is $30.  

New this year is the Jog your JAZZ Off! Fun Run for kids ages 4-11.  Participants will enjoy a half-mile route through Creekside Park beginning at 9:30 a.m. 

Registration fee for the Fun Run is $10, prior to June 11, and includes a t-shirt and post race refreshments.  Admission to the Festival is free for all kids 11 and under.  From June 12, through race day, registration is $15.
